Winter Haven may not be well known to people who live outside the sunshine state but for Floridians the city is best known as the home of the now defunct Cypress Gardens. The once popular theme park is being replaced with Legoland Florida which will attempt to attract the kind of crowds to the city that its predecessor sadly lacked.

The city of Winter Haven has a population of 34,000, which is roughly one third of the number of people that visit Disney's Magic Kingdom theme park on a busy day. Clearly Legoland Florida cannot rely purely on locals if it is going to last longer than Cypress Gardens. The city is within easy reach of both Orlando and Florida. If you avoid rush hour you can reach either city within less than an hour but the roads go both ways and just as Legoland Florida will hope to bring crowds to Winter Haven, established attractions in those two cities will attempt to lure them away. The park will also hope to entice some of the many British tourists who frequent the area and have already sampled some of the Lego magic at Legoland Windsor in England. Fortunately in Winter Haven and the surrounding area there are some other attractions that can keep guests entertained when they are ready for a break from the Lego.
